Evolution of the spectral and structural characteristics of borates formed during the interaction of lanthanum and scandium oxides with a potassium tetraborate melt

The structure, morphology, IR spectra, as well luminescence spectra and excitation of europium-doped borates formed during the interaction lanthanum scandium oxides with a potassium tetraborate melt at 970 o C general formula La 0.99-x Sc x Eu 0.01 BO 3 were studied. It is shown that an increase in 3+ concentration, three compounds are successively formed: LaBO , LaSc (BO ) 4 ScBO . At 0≤ x≤ 0.26, samples single-phase have structure aragonite. Within range 0.26<x<0.75, two-phase contain structures aragonite huntite. 0.75≤ x≤0.85, observed. 0.85<x≤0.97, consist huntite calcite. 0.97<x≤0.99, calcite structure.
